Digital Grocery & Market Shopping and Delivery Network
MCHUSA's DGMSDN connects customers, supermarkets, and delivery providers on a single digital platform, with a focus on independence for older adults and convenience for everyone.
Overview
As support for older adults in daily living becomes more important, services that help them remain independent are increasingly needed. Many older adults who once handled routine tasks such as grocery and market shopping can no longer do so because of illness or physical limitations, making outside assistance essential. Other persons may also value the convenience of this type of service.
MCHUSA, which is registered in Guyana, has created a Digital Grocery & Market Shopping and Delivery Network (DGMSDN) accessible through its website. Key stakeholders include customers, supermarkets, and delivery providers. MCHUSA contracts with supermarkets and delivery services for this Network.
While registration is free, users pay a transaction service fee. Payments are made via Mobile Money Guyana (MMG). The Network has applicability to all regions in Guyana.
How the Network Works
The Network uses a digital platform that connects customers with participating supermarkets and delivery providers. Customers create an account, browse stores, build shopping lists, assign items, and choose delivery dates and times.
After the supermarket provides the final cost and before the order is accepted, payment must be made. Pickup and delivery costs are specific to the regions.
MCHUSA can also shop for customers at markets and supermarkets directly. Customers submit a shopping list, MCHUSA reviews it, estimates the cost based on current prices, receives payment, and completes the purchase. Overpayments may be credited or refunded; any shortfall is added to the delivery fee.

Network Roles
Supermarkets
Participating supermarkets may upload grocery item lists for customers to browse. They receive orders through the platform, price the items, post the final cost for customer review, receive payment, collect and package items, and record pickup details in the system. Supermarkets are encouraged to offer loyalty pricing and feature special sale items.
Delivery Providers
Participating transportation companies manage pickup and delivery. They receive requests through the platform, dispatch staff and vehicles, update the system after pickup (which triggers a customer alert), receive payment on delivery, and update the system with a delivery photo.
Customers
Customers can track orders in real time, confirm delivery, and contact the supermarket or delivery service through the platform to ask questions and resolve issues. All users pay MCHUSA a transaction service fee via Mobile Money Guyana.
